Dr. Nestor Gonzalez is a Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neurovascular Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Gonzalez completed a unique training with two residencies, first in Diagnostic Radiology in Colombia, and then in Neurosurgery at the University of California Los Angeles. He then completed vascular and endovascular fellowships at UCLA and a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research. He has also been faculty of the Departments of Neurosurgery, Radiology, and Computational Biology at UCLA and is currently faculty of the Departments of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Gonzalez has a very prolific research career with more than 200 publications and has received several grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, including 3 National Science Innovation Awards and the National Transformational Science Award. Dr. Gonzalez is the Chair of the Stroke Neurovascular Intervention Science Committee of the American Heart Association and serves in the NIH-NINDH Scientific Review Committee and as an International Advisor for the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
