Jennifer Sullivan, MD MPH is the Enterprise Senior Vice President, Strategic Operations for Atrium Health. She is tasked with oversight and planning for seven multi-state service lines and connecting care with the strategic direction and integration of an academic learning health organization. She joined Atrium after five years as Secretary of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration under Governor Eric J. Holcomb. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Deputy State Health Commissioner and Director for Health Outcomes at the Indiana State Department of Health. Dr. Sullivan is a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. She maintains her appointment at Indiana University School of Medicine and the Fairbanks School of Public Health as Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management. She served as the inaugural Division Chief for Pediatric Emergency Medicine and was the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics Residency from 2007-2015.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston Honors College and her Masters in Public Health at the Richard Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University. She earned her Medical Doctorate at Indiana University School of Medicine and is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. She continues to practice clinically at the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.
Dr. Sullivan is dedicated to building effective, integrated health care delivery systems with a focus on social drivers of health. She takes a public health approach to policy decisions and is committed to strategic alignment across public and private sectors to improve health outcomes and fill unmet social needs. She was recognized in 2021 as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Holcomb, received the Indiana National Guard Distinguished Service Award as well as the Indiana Hospital Association John C. Render Health Policy Award. In 2019 she was the recipient of the APHSA Friedman Health and Human Services Impact Award and is a 2017 Indianapolis Business Journal Woman of Influence. She is a current Aspen Institute Global Leadership Health Innovator Fellow.
