Dr. Muehlschlegel is Professor (PAR) of Neurology, Anesthesiology/ Critical Care Medicine and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Muehlschlegel is a clinician-researcher with a nationally and internationally known clinical research program in shared decision-making, neuroprognostication, and clinician-family communication in hyperacute neurological diseases. Her research focuses on designing and testing shared decision-making interventions in critically ill neurologic patients as well as understanding and improving the way clinicians derive and convey their prognostication to families of neurocritically ill patients. She is the co-chair of a large international guideline on “Neuroprognostication”, a joint guideline between the Neurocritical Care Society, and the German Society for Neuro-Intensive Care Medicine (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurointensivmedizin).
