Laligam N Sekhar is a Profesor and Vice Chraiman of Neuroogical Surgery at the University of Washington. He is a leader in Neurosurgery, well recognized for his contributions in the fields of Skull Base Surgery, Cerebrovascular Surgery, and Cranial Nerve Compression Syndromes. In Cerbrovascular Surgery, he has pioneered the use of bypasses for the treatment of complex brain aneurysms, the use of skull base approaches in the surgical treatment of brain aneurysms, and contributed to the treatment of brain arteriovenous malformations. He was trained in Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh under Peter Jannetta, and did fellowship training under Madjid Samii, and Ghazi Yasargil. He has worked in the past at the University of Pittsburgh, George Washington University, and the North Shore Hospital Hofstra University. He has trained countless residents, and fellows from all over the USA, and many countries of the world. His current research intersts include brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, novel devices to reduce intracranial pressure, and space medicine.
