My name is Seema Yousuf Ph.D. and I am an Instructor in the Brain Research lab, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emory University, Atlanta. I completed my master's and Ph.D. in Toxicology. My doctoral research was based on ”Molecular/Cellular Mechanisms and Therapeutics of Ischemic Stroke”. My research Interests include stroke and co-morbidities (Neuroprotection to Neuroplasticity), mechanisms underlying the effects of co-morbid conditions e.g. diabetes, post-stroke infections, & vitamin D deficiency on long-term pathology & behavioral outcomes of stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (Investigating the effect of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus on brain trauma-induced long-term motor and cognitive deficits with focus on immune and vascular dysfunctions in male and female rats), as well as mild TBI and Alzheimer’s risk (Genetic and environmental interactions).
