Clark C. Chen serves as the director of the brain tumor program at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University. He specializes in the treatment of brain cancers, with a focus on minimally invasive neuro-oncologic surgeries. Dr. Chen completed his neurosurgery training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 2008. He pursued an in-folded clinical fellowship in radiosurgery and a second fellowship in stereotactic neurosurgery before joining staff as the Director of Surgical Neuro-Oncology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. He was recruited to the University of California San Diego Neurosurgery in 2011, where he rose to the rank of tenured ladder-rank Professor and served as the Vice-Chair of Academic Affairs until his current role. He served as the Department Chair for the University of Minnesota Neurosurgery between 2017 and 2024. Dr. Chen is an NIH-funded investigator and is active in national and international neurosurgery, including service as an executive committee member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons Tumor Section. He serves as editor and reviewer for over twenty well-regarded journals that span the field of radiosurgery, neurosurgery, clinical medicine, and laboratory research. Dr. Chen is consistently recognized as a “Top Doctor” in Minnesota for his expertise in clinical neurosurgery by the Mpls. St. Paul Magazine as well as Minnesota Monthly.
