Anna Fusco B.S. is an MD PhD candidate at the University of Florida studying axonal degeneration and neuroprotection after cervical spinal cord injury. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Florida with a major in biology and a minor in Italian. As an undergraduate research assistant, she researched neuroplasticity after cervical spinal cord injury. After graduation, she worked as a laboratory technician at Duke University and studied degeneration in the respiratory neural control circuit in neuromuscular diseases such as spinocerebellar ataxia 7, Pompe disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. She is pursuing a career as a neurosurgeon scientist.
