Student
University of Hawai'i John A. Burns School of Medicine, US
Dillon Putzler (BA, MAMS) is currently a third-year medical student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa's John A. Burns School of Medicine. Hailing from Chicago, Dillon was initially drawn to the field of neurological surgery after hearing tales of his mother’s struggles with TBI following an assault before his birth. Dillon’s academic journey began at Roosevelt University, culminating in a bachelor’s degree in biology. During his undergraduate education, Dillon’s interest in the field was expanded while volunteering at a rehabilitation clubhouse for patients with TBI. Following his undergraduate education, Dillon pursued and was awarded a master’s in medical science from Loyola University.
Dillon’s current areas of research focus on utilizing the NSQIP database to explore the impact of racial disparities on neurosurgical outcomes and systematic reviews of cranial neoplasms and their associated surgical complications. As an active AANS (American Association of Neurological Surgeons) and CNS (Congress of Neurological Surgeons) student member, Dillon is committed to contributing to the field of neurosurgery through both research and clinical practice. When he is not in clinic, Dillon enjoys mentoring hopeful medical students as well as cooking and playing video games.
Having the opportunity to return to the area where he grew up while simultaneously sharing his findings from his current research is a dream come true.
