SUNY Upstate Medical University
My name is George William Koutsouras, D.O., M.P.H, M.S., PGY-4, neurosurgical resident at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
I was born and raised in Queens, New York of Greek-American heritage. I went to college at the New York Insitute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY, and studied Biology. Therafter, I studied at SUNY Downstate School of Public Health where i obtained a Masters in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology. Between my MPH and medical school I worked on the business end of a family business in contracting and helped open up a restaurant in Astoria, Queens. I was fortunate to go to medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I graduated with honors in obtained a dual degree D.O., M.S. Since I have been progressing through neurosurgical residency in Syracuse, NY. I have met the love of my life here in Syracuse, my wife Tara. We own a home here and have been raising our dog, Lucas. This year, I have decided to dedicate my life to pediatric neurosurgery. Taking care of children has always been a passion for me, and combining my love for neurosurgery with the care of children is just the perfect fit.
