Medical Student
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Ikaasa Suri is a second-year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine. She received B.S. in Computational & Systems Biology with a concentration in Neuroinformatics from UCLA in 2020. Her passion for medicine derives from a deep interest in health eqity - specifically, in developing technologies that can make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and efficient for marginalized patient populations. Throughout her time at UCLA, Ikaasa started her first venture in biotechnology where she helped develop blood test kits to detect early-stage liver diseases and founded the Society of Women Engineers' Lobbying Program. During her gap year between college and medical school, Ikaasa remained engaged with healthcare innovation by working on the Biden campaign and developing healthcare policies at an immigrant-focused civil rights organization in Washington, D.C. Most recently, during her first year of medical school, Ikaasa joined two other engineers in building a surgical navigation platform. She went on to serve as the Chief Clinical Officer of this startup and is currently leading the company's efforts to commercialize the product in the spinal procedural space.
