Dr. Rastatter is a Pediatric Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgeon at the Lurie Children’s and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is the Director of clnical research for the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology.
Dr. Rastatter is the Director of Operations for the Head and Neck Surgery Program, is the co-director of the Endonasal Skull Base Surgery Program along with Dr. Tord Alden, MD from the pediatric neurosurgery division.
Dr. Rastatter is a national leader in the surgical management of pediatric thyroid disease. He is the co-director of the Lurie Children's Thyroid Program along with Dr. Jami Josefson, MD from the pediatric endocrinology division. Dr. Rastatter also serves nationally as the co-chair of the Pediatric Endocrine Surgery Committee of the American Head and Neck Society and is a member of a national task force through the American Thyroid Association to maintain and update guidelines for the management of pediatric thyroid cancer.
Dr. Rastatter received his medical degree from Rush-Presbyterian - St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center and Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Lurie Children's (formally Children’s Memorial Hospital) and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He received a master’s degree in Health Services and Outcomes Research also from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Rastatter is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, the American Thyroid Association, the American Head and Neck Society, the North American Skull Base Society, the Children’s Oncology Group, and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Dr. Rastatter has published multiple original, peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters.
