Ruchit Patel is a fourth-year medical student at Harvard Medical School and a graduate research student in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Skull Base Tumor Laboratory. He is interested in the applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods on skull base pathologies. Over the past few years, Ruchit has explored the use of radiomics for meningioma and the link between phenotypic radiological features and molecular alterations. As he explored the implications of computational workflows in skull base tumor surgery, Ruchit also led efforts applying the principles of network science to understand inequities in neuro-oncologic care. He has expanded this work through a global lens, exploring the social and financial consequences of neurosurgical intervention as well as the role medical technology plays in low-middle income countries. In parallel, Ruchit has sought to strengthen ties between academic institutions and surrounding communities, serving as a mentor for several STEM pipeline programs and growing the reach of regional TEDx organizations. Outside of his work, you can find Ruchit backpacking and playing soccer, creating new guitar covers, and experimenting with new recipes.
