Daniel K. Resnick, MD, is Professor, Vice Chairman, and Residency Program Director of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University, and an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He performed his residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh and picked up a Master's degree in Neuroscience from Pittsburgh based on his spinal cord injury research. Dr. Resnick did an enfolded rotation focusing on spinal biomechanics with Dr. Benzel in New Mexico during his residency.
Dr. Resnick is an internationally known spinal surgeon and has particular expertise in minimally-incisional surgery, spinal tumors and degenerative disorders of the spine. His current research focuses on improving the quality of spinal surgery and he is particularly interested in tracking and improving meaningful patient outcomes.
Dr. Resnick has served in multiple leadership roles in organized neurosurgery and spine surgery. He is Past President of the AANS/CNS Joint Spine Section, Past President of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and Past President of the North American Spine Society. He is past Director and Secretary of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. Currently Dr. Resnick serves on the ACGME residency review committee for neurosurgery.
He has over 225 peer-reviewed publications, another two hundred and fifty or so invited publications, and has presented just over 600 scientific presentations. Among his presentations, he has been honored to serve as the Meritorious Guest for the AANS/CNS Spine Section, Sonntag Lecturer for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, The Art Steffee lecturer at the Cleveland Clinic, The Fager Lecturer for the Lahey Clinic, The Jannetta Lecturer for the University of Pittsburgh, the Ved Sachdev Endowed Lecturer for Mount Sinai, and The Whitcomb Lecturer for the New England Medical Society.
