Albert Antar is a fourth-year medical student at Johns Hopkins University. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, and with distinction in biology from Duke University in 2018. While at Duke, he conducted pivotal research on G-protein-coupled receptors with Nobel Prize laureate Dr. Robert Lefkowitz, setting a strong foundation for his future scientific endeavors.
Post-graduation, Albert spent two years at The Rockefeller University, delving into nanobody research to advance understanding of ribosome biogenesis under Dr. Sebastian Klinge, and contributing to prostate cancer studies alongside Lasker-Debakey Clinical Medical Research Award recipient Dr. Charles Sawyers. His notable contributions during this period were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Continuing his passion for research at Johns Hopkins, Albert has been actively involved in projects aimed at neurosurgery education and increasing female participation in neurosurgery under Dr. Judy Huang. He has also worked closely with Dr. Daniel Sciubba on spine tumor research, authoring several first-author publications and presenting his findings at key academic conferences. Currently, in his research year with Dr. Daniel Lubelski, Albert is investigating the role of biomarkers in understanding the metastasis of breast, lung, and other cancers to the spine.
Albert's academic journey reflects a continuous commitment to impactful research, contributing to advancements in both biochemistry and the medical sciences. His work underscores a dedication to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of medicine through research and innovation.
