Neeraj Mainkar, Ph.D
Neeraj has 28 years of experience developing cutting edge software technology in the regulated industry. The first half of his career was spent in the defense and homeland security vertical. For the last 14 years he has worked in the medical device industry at both small start-ups as well as large multinational medical device companies (formerly Smiths Medical now ICU Medical, Becton Dickinson) developing a wide array of medical devices including neuromodulation, infusion pumps, complex microbiology lab automation, surgical robotics and surgical navigation. Over the last 8 years he has overseen increasing use of AI/ML into medical devices and as such has developed deep experience on how to balance integration of state-of-the-art AI to push the envelope of innovation improve patient outcomes while also controling AI capabilities in ways that ensure patient safety. Currently, Neeraj is VP of Software Engineering & Advanced Technology at Proprio where he leads a team of software and AI engineers developing surgical navigation products that build on AI including computer vision and NLGs.
Neeraj holds a Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D in computational solid state physics.
