Dr. Cheerag D. Upadhyaya is an Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He also serves as Chief Transformation & Business Strategy Officer for the Department of Neurosurgery. He has completed research fellowships at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute / National Institutes of Health and as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Michigan. He then completed a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Most recently he completed his Masters in Business Administration at the Massachussets Institute of Technology. He has been awarded the Scoliosis Research Society Edgar Dawson Traveling Fellowship and AANS/CNS Spine and Peripheral Nerve Outcomes Committee Award. He is a member of the Scientific Program Committee and Executive Committee for the AANS/CNS Spine and Peripheral Nerve Section. Dr. Upadhyaya serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine.
