Medical Student
John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii at Manoa, US
Frishan Paulo is currently a third-year medical student at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Prior to embarking on their medical journey, Frishan achieved a Masters of Science in Anatomy and Translational Sciences from George Washington University, laying a strong foundation for their future research.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Frishan’s main research interest is addressing racial disparities that affect members of their local population, especially in surgery utilization and outcomes. Their other interests include enhancing medical education and curriculum, making new and creative approaches in teaching complex neuroscience topics to future medical students.
As a student member of both the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), Frishan hopes to become a neurosurgeon who can shape the landscape and future of the field in their home state. Frishan is excited to present their research on racial disparities in spinal fusion outcomes for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis at this conference.
