Shahid NImjee, MD, PhD, Professor of Neurosurgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
I’m a neurological surgeon specializing in open and endovascular neurosurgery. My dual training focuses on the optimal approach to treat each patient rather than on a specific technique. After completing my medical degree and PhD from Duke University, I remained at Duke to complete a residency in neurological surgery and fellowship in endovascular/cerebrovascular neurosurgery.
My research focuses on exploiting the properties of RNA biology to better diagnose and treat thromboembolic disease as it pertains to cerebrovascular neurosurgery. I lead an NIH-funded foundational and translational research laboratary where we are striving to develop a novel and reversible drug to treat patients who present with acute ischemic stroke.
