Dr. Michael DeCuypere received his medical degree and doctorate in neurobiology from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center combined MD, PhD program. He then completed neurosurgical residency training in Memphis with the Semmes-Murphey Clinic and the University of Tennessee Department of Neurosurgery.
He has completed fellowships in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgical Oncology and Complex Endoscopy with Dr. Charlie Teo in Sydney, Australia and Pediatric Neurosurgery with Dr. Rick Boop at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital / St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He is the Eleanor Clarke Research Scholar in Developmental Neurobiology and Director of Translational Research and Clinical Trials for the Division of Neurosurgery at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric brain tumor surgery and complex neuroendoscopy.
His current research interests focus on understanding the complex immunological microenvironment of pediatric brain tumors, including the discovery of novel therapeutic treatment targets for clinical translation.
