John Dugan is a second-year medical student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. A Nashville native, John received his Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University before matriculating at the University of Tennessee for medical school. He is currently a student researcher with the Vanderbilt Spine Outcomes Lab and Concussion Research Lab under the mentorship of Scott Zuckerman, MD, MPH, as well as the Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute Skull Base and Cerebrovascular Lab under the mentorship of Nickalus Khan, MD, FAANS. John plans for a career in neurological surgery, driven by his interests in spine, skull base, and the intersections of the field with technology. John serves as president of the AANS Medical Student Chapter at his home institution.
